When it comes to flying, there’s a lot we can grumble about as novice or seasoned travellers. Taking a plane to another country isn’t something we do all too often, in the grand scheme of things, but it’s something we should know about when the time comes to do so.
So we’ve already talked about how to check in well and have the best time you can before you set off, but how about when you touch down on the other side? It’s something we don’t hear much about when it comes to the airport experience, but we should focus a little more on it to make sure we have as best a trip to a foreign country as possible. Here’s the tips for doing just that.
Try Not to Worry About the Baggage
There’s always that moment when we’re on the other side of the world and we’re waiting for our bag to come around the carousel. But it never does, and you never see it, and you’re left alone whilst everybody else has already grabbed theirs. However, this is usually just your eyes playing a trick on you, and there’s a good chance you’ve simply missed spotting yours, or it hasn’t been loaded on yet.
Don’t worry, we’ve all been in your position. And sometimes there is a problem with the bag, but most of the time it’s just excess worry. If you labeled your suitcase clearly, and you know what it looks like before you checked it in at the other airport, you’re going to be just fine.
Sleep at the Airport
If you’ve been racking both your brain and the internet in looking for a place to stay once you get to your destination, there’s a good chance the airport itself has its own hotel or one incredibly close by. They want to catch all the tourists after all, and being in convenient distances is the best way to do so.
So make use of this little fact, as places like the Minneapolis Airport Marriott exist all over the world, and can be a great way to introduce yourself to the other country. They’re usually family friendly as well, so if you’ve got grumbling parents or a bigger group along with you, they’re going to be able to handle all of you at once
Hire a Vehicle
Now that you’ve exited the airport, and you’re standing in the car park outside, there’s a good chance you can immediately spot a rental place just over the other side. Use this to your advantage and go hire out a car. If you can get around on your own terms in this new country, you’re going to feel a lot better about travelling in between destinations. Plus, it can be a lot cheaper than a taxi if you’re going a couple of hours away to reach your hotel!
Remember, handling the whole airport experience well is something nearly no one can do, so don’t get yourself down over it.
