Zero Range by Hi-Care Beauty Care

When it comes to hair care, finding products that are effective, affordable, and gentle on your hair isn’t always easy. That’s why the Zero Range from Hi-Care Beauty Care caught my attention.

With sulfate and paraben-free formulas, cruelty-free products, and a range designed to address different hair concerns, Zero offers an accessible alternative to many salon brands. Whether you’re looking to maintain blonde tones, add moisture to dry hair, or support a healthier-looking scalp, there’s something in the range for almost everyone.

For this review, I put the Caffeine Shampoo, Purple Shampoo, and Argan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner to the test. Here’s what I thought of each product.

Why Choose Sulfate and Paraben-Free Hair Care?

Over the years, sulfate and paraben-free hair care has become increasingly popular, especially among people with colour-treated, dry, curly, or sensitive hair.

Sulfates are cleansing agents responsible for the rich lather found in many shampoos. While they clean effectively, some people find that they can leave their hair feeling dry or stripped of natural oils. Sulfate-free shampoos tend to offer a gentler cleanse, which may help reduce frizz and leave hair feeling softer and more manageable.

Parabens are preservatives used to extend shelf life and prevent bacterial growth in cosmetic products. Although parabens remain approved for use in cosmetics within regulated limits, many consumers prefer paraben-free alternatives and appreciate having that option available.

For me, the biggest difference I’ve noticed when using sulfate and paraben-free products is improved manageability. My hair feels less brittle, looks healthier, and tends to have less frizz than when I use harsher cleansing formulas.

The Zero Range

I’ve tried a number of sulfate and paraben-free products over the years and, while I’ve generally enjoyed the results, the price tags can often be difficult to justify for everyday use.

That’s one of the things that stood out about the Zero range. It offers many of the features people look for in premium hair care products while remaining accessible and budget-friendly.

  • Keratin Shampoo & Conditioner
  • Argan Oil Shampoo & Conditioner
  • Caffeine Shampoo
  • Purple (Silver) Shampoo

For this review, I tested the Argan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner, Caffeine Shampoo, and Purple Shampoo. Choosing which product to try first was probably the hardest part of receiving the box!

Caffeine Shampoo

As someone who has experienced periods of increased hair shedding, I was particularly interested in trying the Caffeine Shampoo. Caffeine is often included in hair care products because it’s believed to help support a healthier-looking scalp and hair.

While no shampoo can work miracles overnight, I did notice less hair collecting in my hands during washing after using it consistently. What I enjoyed most was that it left my hair feeling clean without stripping it of moisture, something that can be difficult to find in shampoos aimed at hair loss concerns.

The shampoo itself is clear in colour with a subtle scent and produces a surprisingly good lather for a sulfate-free formula. I’ve been pairing it with the Argan Oil Conditioner and found the combination works well for keeping my hair soft and manageable.

Purple Shampoo

If you have blonde hair or highlights, you’ll know how quickly unwanted yellow or brassy tones can appear. That’s where purple shampoo comes in.

Purple sits opposite yellow on the colour wheel, helping to neutralise brassiness and keep blonde tones looking cooler and brighter. I’ve been alternating between the Caffeine Shampoo during the week and the Purple Shampoo on weekends, and I’ve definitely noticed my blonde looking fresher between salon visits.

The formula is a vibrant purple colour and slightly thinner than a traditional shampoo, making it easy to distribute through the hair. For a stronger toning effect, you can leave it on for a few minutes before rinsing.

Argan Oil Shampoo & Conditioner

Argan oil has long been a favourite ingredient in hair care thanks to its nourishing properties. Rich in vitamin E and essential fatty acids, it’s often used to help improve softness, shine, and manageability.

The Argan Oil Shampoo left my hair feeling smooth and hydrated without weighing it down, while the conditioner quickly became my favourite product in the range. It’s thick, creamy, and a little goes a long way. I’ve been using it with all three shampoos and it consistently leaves my hair feeling softer and easier to style.

Final Thoughts

After testing the range, the standout products for me were the Caffeine Shampoo and Argan Oil Conditioner. Together they helped keep my hair feeling healthier, softer, and easier to manage.

If you’re looking for affordable sulfate and paraben-free hair care options, the Zero range is worth considering. The products are available from selected salons and major South African retailers, although prices may vary depending on the store and current promotions.

Have you tried any products from the Zero range? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.

  1. Hi,

Thanks for the review. I wanted to find out how well does the product actually work on hair that’s had brazillian treatments done? There’s many shampoos and conditioners that claim to be sulphate and parabens free and noticed some sactually strip my Brazilian away quicker

    1. Hi Azra, I unfortunately can’t comment on how it works on Brazilian treated hair as I’ve never had it done on my own hair. There are some beauty groups on facebook, I think you will get tones of feedback on there 🙂 Beauty Squad South Africa(Group) & The Beauty Community South Africa – Trade, Play & Slay
