For the past couple of weeks I’ve been testing some new Shampoos and Conditioner from the Zero Range sent to me by Hi-Care Beauty Care, so far I can say, love, love, love. First off the products are all Sulfate Laureth and Paraben free , secondly this range is NOT tested on animals and thirdly, these products are ALL affordable.
Why should you use Sulfate & Parben Free products?
Paraben, is a chemical substance that acts as a preservative by inhibiting bacterial growth, thus, prolonging shelf life. Aside from this, Paraben is also inexpensive, which is an advantage. Paraben copies bodily hormones and causes interruption in the performance of the endocrine system. Paraben also contributes to hair and scalp problems such as deterioration of the hair follicles by removing the protective cuticle, making the hair dull and brittle.
Because shampoos that do not contain sulfate laureth are as mild as baby shampoos, you can save your scalp from irritations. After a few washes there will be a noticeable difference between these two kinds of shampoos.
Another chemical used in shampoo is Sulfate Laureth, which is effective in attracting then breaking of dirt on the hair and scalp. However, studies show that the addition of sulfate laureth in cosmetics could cause certain damages to the body such as eye damage, which can lead to blindness in small children. Other than that, sulfate laureth can cause skin irritation due to its ability to penetrate and ruin skin barriers. Sulfate Laureth has been found to be toxic and carcinogenic. It also causes hair loss and hair thinning because it deteriorates the follicles of the hair, and slows the growth of hair.
When the hair strand is not covered by enough natural oil, it has a tendency to curve away from the strand next to it. Moreover, if a considerable number of hair strands lack oil, your hair will become frizzy. And remember, sulfate can strip grease from a car engine so it can strip away natural oil from your hair. Sulfate Laureth free shampoo can solve this by retaining the oil in the hair strands. In summary, sulfate laureth free shampoo reduces frizzing.
Testing
The past couple of months I’ve been testing paraben and sulfate free shampoos vs ones that are not. I’ve found that it makes a huge difference with the health of my hair regarding brittleness, frizz and volume, but, the hefty price tags on most paraben and sulfate free products were really off-putting, but not anymore! The Zero range is priced from R60 – R80 from Dischem and Checkers stores, making it a huge steal so I think I’ve found my new go to Shampoo and Conditioner range.
The range includes Keratine Shampoo & Conditioner, Argan Shampoo & Conditioner, Shampoo & Conditioner for Men, Caffeine Shampoo and Silver Shampoo. I am currently testing the Argan, Caffeine and Silver shampoos as well as the Argan conditioner. I will post a breakdown of each one as soon as I’ve thoroughly tested them. What I can tell you so far is when you receive a box of hair care products it’s really hard to choose which ones to try first!
