Ingredients

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix e.g. Golden Cloud, with frosting packet
  • Ingredients required for cake mix as per box instructions
  • 1 tub mascarpone
  • 20 ml hazelnut syrup e.g. Nettari
  • 1 hazelnut chocolate slab grated (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Cake

  • Prepare the chocolate cake mix according to the package instructions. Bake in a cake tin and allow to cool completely.

Make the Frosting

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the mascarpone with the frosting packet from the cake mix. Add the hazelnut syrup and mix until smooth and creamy.

Assemble the Cake

  • Slice the cake into two layers. Spread a portion of the frosting between the layers, then cover the top and sides with the remaining frosting.

Decorate

  • Top with grated hazelnut chocolate if desired.

Notes

  • You can use any chocolate cake mix of your choice.
  • Adjust the amount of hazelnut syrup to taste.
  • Keep refrigerated if using mascarpone frosting.
