Pancakes are loved all over the world, but each country has their own traditional way of preparing and serving them. This is my favourite recipe for making pancakes and it is a recipe I tweaked a tiny bit from Sarie Kos, the original recipe can be found here: www.sarie.com Pancake Recipe.
Pancake Recipe
I got till here with writing this post when the power went out and turned my pancakes into a romantic candle lit baking and dinner session! I had planned to make pancakes for dinner anyways and I am really glad I did because it’s one of the easiest things to make on a gas bottle cooker.
Ingredients:
- 500 ml All Purpose Flour
- 10 ml Baking Powder
- 2 ml Salt
- 2 Eggs
- 250 ml Milk
- 350 ml Water
- 25 ml Oil
- 12.5 ml Vinegar/Lemon Juice
Method:
I sift all the dry ingredients into a blender, then I add the rest of the ingredients and blend them until everything is mixed well. Let the batter sit for no less than 30 minutes before starting to bake your pancakes.
Heat a bit of oil in a pan over medium heat, pour a enough batter into the pan to make a thin layer, when bubbles form on top flip it over and cook on the other side.
This recipe makes about 10 pancakes.
We usually make a savoury filling for our dinner pancakes, my husband loves eating his the dutch way, with some syrup or we just go traditionally South African with cinnamon sugar. I will do a post soon about one of my favourite savoury pancake fillings, it turns your regular pancakes into a dinner treat!
Happy pancake baking!
