This is going to be one of those personal blog posts so bare with me! A while ago I wrote a post about my weight story over here  and last week I started on my new weight journey with the help of a lovely dietician, Iseme Rheeder. Together we well try and get me to a healthier weight. My Weight Journey

My Weight Journey

The First Week

I am very determent to shed some kilos, especially before my trip to the Netherlands. Since last week I’ve been drinking only shakes, eating fruit as snacks and drinking at least 3.5 liter of water a day. I won’t lie, it was really hard to go completely cold turkey and my cravings drove me insane. By Saturday evening the hunger pains got so bad, I just wanted to feel something warm in my stomach and I ended up making the best choice I could and had a packet of cup a soup. All this paid off today when I had my first weigh in and lost 2kg, which is really great considering it’s only been 5 days. Tonight I will move onto a proper controlled meal and I can’t wait to share my first healthy recipe with you guys.

The Plan

I have PCOS and IBS so Iseme had to specially work out an eating plan to suit my dietary needs. The eating plan entails that I eat low protein, low GI and cut out all sugar. All fruits and veggies need to be pealed and because PCOS causes my body to act insulin resistant I have to follow a diet very similar to people with diabetes.

Ismene has a very different approach to explaining food and it helped me understand food a little bit better than before. Eating healthy also doesn’t mean you have to eat bland dull sad looking food, you  just need to approach preparing it differently and swapping out ingredients for healthier options is already a great start.

Changes I’ve Had To Make on My Weight Journey

Let it go! Let it go! Yes guys I’m not talking about sugar this time, I’m talking about my addiction to salty snacks. My weak spot is most definitely anything that has anything to do with potatoes. Chips, fries, mash, roasted, you name it, my plan allows even for diabetic candy but oh my, the chips, they are a thing of the past.

The other not so big change is I have to say good bye to any form of caffeine so that means I can’t have diet coke or tea, and oh how I love my lipton.

Ready, Set, Go!

So this is me ready for this lifestyle change! If you would like to join me on my journey follow me on social media or subscribe to my newsletter to receive my posts on weigh in updates, recipes and other healthy eating lifestyle tips. My Weight Journey.

  1. Best of luck Lizna! I actually have a soft spot for french fries or any savoury dish which usually includes a lot of pastry. I know it is challenging but anything is possible if you put your mind to it.
