MoonTime Reusable Sanitary Products

MoonTime 08 With Elizabeth H

It’s been a hot minute since I last posted but with the fires that ripped through the Garden Route our internet towers completely melted away. It took them over a week to restore our WiFi and with that I fell behind so much with my work. I’ve finally caught up and am able to spend some time on the other side of my life! Today I’m going to share with you the reusable sanitary products from MoonTime.

I’ve been cautious about touching down on these topics on my blog but I’ve just made a decision to post about them as I’m a woman and it’s part of who I am! So here is an environmental friendly buddy for your period.

Who is MoonTime

MoonTime is a company that produces beautiful sanitary pads that are of high quality and handmade in South Africa with 100% cotton Shwe Shwe fabric and natural materials. The pads are highly absorbent, leak-proof, lightweight, breathable and uniquely designed for comfort.

MoonTime Reusable Pads

Each pad consists of 4 layers of 100% cotton Shwe Shwe fabric, 1 layer of 4-5ml toweling, 1 layer of breathable waterproof material and 2 quality press studs – making it adjustable for your comfort. It effortlessly folds around your underwear and effectively stays in place.

The pads are available in seven colour bases and seven sizes – panty liner, extra small, small, medium, large, extra large and maternity.

My Experience with MoonTime

MoonTime kindly gifted me one of their pads to try. At first I was a bit reluctant to use it but I eventually decided to wait till my cycle is on day three to try it (you know, just in case) At first it felt really uncomfortable but as time passed I got used to it. The trick is to wear tight undies, leave those granny panties for laundry day and not period day! This way the pad is held closer to your body. Because the MoonTime pad is made out of fabric it’s heavier than the pads we are used to.

The pad turned out to be much more absorbent than I thought. Because of the colourful pattern design you aren’t greeted by a scene from a horror movie.

To clean the pad you need to wash it in cold water. You can add a bit of salt as well and wash it with the green sunlight laundry soap bars or even chuck it into the washing machine.  If you want you can purchase a natural cleanser from MoonTime.

Where to buy and pricing

MoonTime pads can be purchased from their website and the pricing starts at R77. Here is a lists of their stockists as well. I love that you can buy a starter pack. This includes a small pad, a medium pad, a large pad, an extra-large pad, a carrier bag with wet compartment and a natural soap. These retail for R750

  1. I bought some from Hannah Pad, and I actually like them. I dont use them in the first few heavy days, but towards the end. I also use the panty liners more often as opposed to disposable ones. These are much cheaper, so keen to give them a try.

    Thanks Lizna!
