My Recipe Room was kind enough to send me a gift set of their Gourmet Salts. I have to say I’m really blown away by all the flavour combinations available and the ideas of what I can make with them juts keep flooding in! I even got some great suggestions from you guys over on my instagram feed. But before we dive into these unique salts let’s find out the who, what and where about My Recipe Room.
My Recipe Room
My Recipe Room was founded with a dream. The dream was to bring something new, different and appealing to food lovers. Something that will make lives easier and connect people with the same common interest – the love of food. The dream became a reality with their recipe app. With numerous features it allows you to create and save your own recipes and share it with others. The dream was not over though. Driven by their passion and creativity they developed products with the aim of bringing back the fun in preparing food and to create discussion and community. The products had to be daring, diversifying your kitchen but remain healthy. Their gourmet salt range was the start.
My Recipe Room Mobile App
The my recipe room phone app is really great. It let’s you capture all your favourite recipes. Those ones your gran used to keep in a binder, something yummy you had a a friend’s place and your new creations! You can download it from the App Store or the Google Play Store over here.
Their Gourmet Salts! Yum
So let’s get to the fun part. These yummy salt combinations blew my mind.
White Wine & Thyme
I’ve used this one in hamburger patties, it was really yum! I used my burger recipes over here and used only this salt and some extra thyme to flavour it with. It was a great hit!
Pineapple & Orange
This was the one my friend Ilona was the most excited about. She loves adding salt to her pineapple slices and orange juice and this was all rolled into one. I used this when I made some meat balls and added a bit of paprika into the mix.
Mixed Berry & Pear
This one isn’t only gorgeous but it smells amazing. I haven’t yet used it in a dish but I think it would go lovely over a salad.
Strawberry & Peach
This is another fruity salt and I haven’t yet decided on what I’m going to create with it. Any suggestions welcome! I could perhaps grind some over my amarula chocolate cake.
Coffee & Chocolate
Now this one had tons of feedback on instagram. Let’s take a look at some of your suggestions. My Recipe Room grinded this one over marshmallows (need to try asap) Vina (@chimocollate) suggested a meat rub. I really like this idea!
Shop My Recipe Room
These gourmet salts are very reasonably prices from R22 and sets from R110. They are aiming to have a total of 10 flavour combinations. One I didn’t mention above is Red Wine & Rosemary. I can’t wait to see what other flavours will be available. You can purchase the salts from their shop and they ship country wide.
I will be posting some recipes using these so keep an eye out. You can always subscribe to get my newsletter or follow me on my social media platforms to receive new content first.

Oh my hat these sound amazing! I love the idea of the Chocolate and Coffee one – a meat rub with that would be spectacular.
That Strawberry and Peach one would be delicious over a simple strawberry, feta, avo and baby spinach salad!
